Lebanon: Island Of Christianity
This compelling documentary explores the rise and present status of Christians and Muslims in the Middle East.
Monday May 21 at 6:30 PM ET

The trailer below presents the first 10 minutes of the documentary that takes an in-depth look at the rise and present status of Christians and Muslims in the Middle East.

The program opens by reviewing the early roots of the Middle East, which, until the rise of Mohammed in the 7th century, were Christian. The program then, featuring interviews with Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir of the Maronite Church, Fr. Peter Hans Kolvenbach, the General of the Jesuits, Sunnite Grand Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Kab-bani, and Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the terrorist movement Hez-bollah, moves to consider the present day uneasy relationship that exists between Christians and Muslims and the endangered future for Christians in these lands.

Paradoxically, despite the tensions and the increasing difficulties for Christians, there is an increase in the number of vocations both among men and women. Representatives of the Lebanese Catholic and Orthodox Churches reveal the growing interest among the young for a deeper spiritual life and to consecrate themselves to serve the Church.
